It seemed like just last year Indy was starting school and here she is graduating already. From preschool that is...
A few days before we left on our trip here out west, we held a fun event in our barn. It was a big night for a bunch of little ones, including mine, who were celebrating the end of preschool and the beginning of so much more!
There were no caps and gowns, but there were a lot of handsome fellas and beautiful young ladies. Indiana’s betrothed Caleb (my future son-in-law according to their Mamas) was all smiles in his pin-striped suit and cap...
And Teagan, another young cowboy suitor looked mighty handsome in his Sunday best too...
The teachers made a special red carpet for the kiddos to walk in on...
And there was much excitement and chaos in the barn as the night got started with some live music to kick things off...
One by one, each of our little ones were called up for awards and we watched a sweet video and remembered what a special year it had been...
It’s hard to believe how much has happened in such a short time.
The one-room schoolhouse that was pretty much the only building we had in September, is now surrounded by a beautiful playground and pavilion, a garden shed, and a green house full of flowers and plants. And the kids have a wonderful garden where they spent the spring learning how to plant and grow yummy vegetables.
It’s been a steep learning curve this year for all of us, but we’ve come a long way in a short time. Luckily we’ve been blessed with lots of wonderful folks who’ve come alongside us to help us grow and learn to be a better school, just as the kids are growing and learning better life and educational skills.
Here’s a new video we put together that shares some of how we got here as a school, and where we’re headed...
Pre-school graduation in the barn was such a special night for all of us. One last time for a lot of the kids and parents to all be together and celebrate what a special year it’s been. Some of the children will be coming back this coming year, but some will go on to other schools, since this coming year our school will become multi-age (more like one-room schoolhouses originally were)... allowing K through 4th grades to all learn together (Indy will one of the kindergarteners). The classroom size will also expand from 12 to 15 kids, and they’ve told me there’s still room for about eight more students and one more teacher / possible teacher’s-assistant.
The new year at the schoolhouse will start on September 4th, so If you’re interested in finding out more about your child coming or applying for a teaching position, you can go to www.hardisonmillschoolhouse.com or email rebecca@hardisonmillschool.com.
There’s also going to be another Harvest Dinner fundraising event for the schoolhouse in October and I’ll be sharing more info on that and other things we’re doing in the coming weeks and months as the new year progresses.
